LANDING STRIP
©Trev Teasdel Coventry August 1970
You're doing so well for yourself, my baby,
Said you prefer his company.
The one with the pound-note-eyes
The one with the car-key-smile.
You're flying so high my baby,
I'll be your landing-strip when you fall
I'll be your landing-strip when you fall.
The plane trip you're undertaken,
Is but a one way circle round the city.
You'll see the sights from a height
You'll be floating just like a kite.
But you'll soon be back on the ground
Slowly at the speed of sound
I'll be your landing-strip when you fall
I'll be your landing-strip when you fall.
The path you tread seems paved with gold.
A thin vaneer round a heart that's cold.
A skyway full of fun and glee.
But your wings'll take you too high
You'll be lost in the sky.
I'll be your landing-strip when you fall
I'll be your landing-strip when you fall.
